Abstract
This study investigates the impact of cultural values in the English language textbook for second-year intermediate students on their learning styles. It aims to explore the cultural values presented in the textbook and their influence on students\' learning preferences, hypothesizing a significant relationship between learning styles and these cultural values. Using a practical study design in 14 middle schools in Guelma and involving 32 English teachers, the research gathered views on the textbook\'s cultural values and their effect on student learning styles. Results revealed that visual and kinesthetic learning styles are most prevalent among learners. Additionally, the textbook places almost equal emphasis on Algerian and international cultures. The study identified specific cultural values, such as prioritizing health care over prevention, individuality over collectivism, and physical appearance over morality. It also found that pleasure is valued more than wisdom and consumption over productivity. More than half of the participants believed that cultural values influence learning styles, with auditory learners particularly affected by the emphasis on individuality, leading to a failure to interact and short attention spans. This research provides insights into the influence of cultural values on learning styles and suggests further exploration in educational practice.
