Résumé

Education has experienced a huge transition from traditional learning to online learning that is caused by the widespread of the covid-19 crisis. Such transitions impacted the learning and teaching processes in both positive and negative ways. Therefore, this study attempts to analyse the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and how it affect the educational system, also it explores the way in which the internet has become a learning and teaching resources; how information and communication technologies (ICTs) are now used in higher education as a main stream method of learning. Finally, it deals with the online learning effects. The current research opted for a mixed methods approach to collect both qualitative and quantitative data. Primarily, a printed questionnaire was administered to 80 students from 103 second year students at the department of English at Souk-Ahras University. Secondly, a structured interview was conducted with 16 teachers selected randomly. From the analysis of the obtained data, results reveal that students are not satisfied with using online learning at variance to teachers who find it helpful to finish their teaching, but at the same time they reported that blended learning is a useful teaching method rather than traditional or online teaching. As a final element, the English as foreign language teachers of Mohamed Cherif Messaadia University highlight some suggestions for the guidelines for the implementations of the blended learning in the Algerian universities.
